Alligator For Sale

Are you old enough to remember when the The Alligator was one of the coolest hangouts on Fire Island? Ok, that was a bit of a trick since The Alligator scares people off, just like the reptile from which it got its name. The Alligator has been referred to as one of Fire Island’s only clubs. In fact, it’s nothing more than a crummy bar/dancehall right in the center of town. I think the reason this place has never worked on Fire Island is ownership’s refusal to embrace the bohemian lifestyle and nightlife ingrained in our history. The Alligator, instead, went the route of wet T-shirt contests, big muscle-bound bouncers, bad music, and even, at times, a velvet rope. It was a safe-haven for Bay Shore boys and girls, and an unfortunate, first-time Fire Island visitor who made a wrong turn.

But, that can all change now that The Alligator is For Sale!!! That’s right. For $1.2 million, it can all be yours!
